Azerbaijani president receives UK Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change

Baku â€“ APA. Azerbaijanâ€™s President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by UK Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change Lord Hunt on September 16, the Presidentâ€™s press service told APA. Lord Hunt congratulated the head of state on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the â€œContract of the Centuryâ€ and stressed the importance of this contract in further development of Azerbaijan. According to him, British Government highly appreciated Azerbaijani Presidentâ€™s official visit to London in July of the current year.

President Ilham Aliyev said a very significant and decisive event happened in the life of the independent Azerbaijan 15 years ago and the â€œContract of the Centuryâ€ accelerated the long-lasting development of the country. Touching upon 15-year successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and bp, President said the cooperation offered broad opportunities for the cooperation in the Caspian region. He regarded the cooperation between Azerbaijan and bp as a good example of cooperation between an influential company and a state.

UK Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change Lord Hunt said Azerbaijanâ€™s oil industry had a great history, the country gained important achievements within 15 years, bp had also contributed to that development. Lord Hunt expressed his confidence that bp would continue successful cooperation with Azerbaijan.
