64th session of UN General Assembly starts in New York

Baku. Viktoria Dementieva â€“ APA. The 64th session of the UN General Assembly starts in New York today. APA reports that the main discussions will be held on September 23-26 and September 28-30. Over 100 heads of states and governments, foreign ministers and heads of delegation will address the assembly. According to the preliminary list, the presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia, US, France, Iran, Brazil, Libya, Uganda, Qatar, Chile, Jordan, Algeria and South Korea will address the General Assembly on September 23., Presidents of Ukraine, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Lithuania will address the assembly on September 24 and presidents of Moldova and Estonia on September 25.

The agenda of the General Assembly covers over 160 issues, such as peace and security in the world, combat against terrorism, protection of human rights and environment, social and economic development and struggle against AIDS.

As reported earlier, the agenda of the session also includes the situation in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, protracted conflicts in GUAM, their influence on the international, regional security.
