Chinese ambassador Chzhan Yannyan: â€œAzerbaijan is the most important country of the Caucasusâ€

Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. â€œPeopleâ€™s Republic of China recognizes Azerbaijanâ€™s sovereignty and territorial integrity, supports solution to Nagorno Karabakh in a peaceful way, in line with the resolutions of the UN Security Council,â€ ambassador of China to Azerbaijan Chzhan Yannyan said in the roundtable on â€œAzerbaijan-China relations in the context of modern regional geopoliticsâ€ in Strategic Studies Center under Azerbaijani President, APA reports. He also said that Azerbaijan recognizes Chinaâ€™s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
â€œAzerbaijan is the most important country of the Caucasus. China attaches great importance to the expansion of the cooperation with Azerbaijan in various spheres,â€ he said.
The diplomat said that trade turnover between the two countries was $800 million in 2008. According to the ambassador, about 15 famous Chinese companies are operating in Azerbaijan, $500 million has been invested in Azerbaijanâ€™s economy.
Chzhan Yannyan said there is a great potential to extend the relations between the two countries. He noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev paid an official visit to China in 2005, held efficient meetings with the Chinese officials when he visited China to watch Beijing Olympic Games last year.
