Germany anxious about Beckenbauer, Matthaus: “health problems”

Germany is worried about Franz Beckenbauer’s physical condition, APA reports citing Italy 24.

In fact, the former captain and coach of the German national team has not been well for years and now his former player Lothar Matthaus revealed that it is getting worse and worse. “We wish him to be the old Beckenbauer again, full of energy – the former Inter midfielder told the German broadcaster Rtl. We wish him the best possible health. Let’s hope he gets better, he himself has always said that health is the most important thing in the world. At the moment he doesn’t have it. Is not very well. Let’s hope that the path can go the other way.”

Beckenbauer, 78 years old on September 11, has not been well for years: in 2016 and 2017 he had undergone two heart operations, in 2019 he had an eye infarction. The last alarm bell a few weeks ago when he did not participate in a meeting in which all the rest of the triumphal expedition of Italy 1990 took part.
