The research and analysis division of The Economist Group, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), has updated its economic growth forecast for Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports.
The EIU predicts that the country’s economy will grow by around 3% next year.
Based on the EIU’s assessment, Azerbaijan is among the group of stable economies with growth potential in 2026.
The EIU expects global economic growth to reach 2.4% next year. The Asia region remains the fastest-growing area — growth in India and Vietnam is projected at 5–7%, and in China and Indonesia at 4–5%. In African and Middle Eastern countries, average growth is expected at 3–4%, for European Union countries and the UK at 1–2%, and for the US at approximately 2%.
The Economist has determined that growth in Russia and several Eastern European countries will remain below 2%, while growth in regional countries is projected at 3.5–4% in Kazakhstan, 4–4.5% in Georgia, and 3% in Türkiye.
Note that the draft budget for 2026 forecasts medium-term economic growth in Azerbaijan at 3.5%. For the current year, this figure is 3%, and for 2026 it is projected at 2.9%, 2027 at 3.3%, 2028 at 3.1%, and 2029 at 4.8%. International financial institutions’ expectations for Azerbaijan’s economic growth next year range between 2.4% and 3.1%.
