Ahliman Amiraslanov, the Chairman of the Committee on Health of Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has proposed to increase the state budget allocations for the purchase of medicines for oncology patients, APA reports.
Speaking at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, Labor and Social Policy, Healthcare, International Relations, and Interparliamentary Relations, Amiraslanov noted that expectations from compulsory medical insurance are high: “Outpatients are still not being provided with necessary medicines. Although we have amended the law, this problem persists. Secondly, there are issues related to primary healthcare. This problem is more pronounced in remote villages and regions. In many villages, primary healthcare services are either absent or in inadequate condition. There are also problems with oncology services. The funds allocated from the state budget are not sufficient for the adequate treatment of patients. The prices of the medicines needed to treat these patients are quite high. The allocated funds are not enough to import these medicines into Azerbaijan. Additional funding is needed for this area.”
