Russia could use nuclear weapons if NATO attempts to isolate and blockade the Kaliningrad region, the Russian Embassy in Ireland said in a statement, APA reports.
The diplomatic mission noted that NATO could attempt to blockade Russia’s Kaliningrad region. In this regard, the embassy drew attention to the “Galantny Vepr-2026” joint military exercises conducted by Lithuania, Poland and France.
The statement claimed that the exercises are specifically directed against Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave and are intended as preparations for a naval and air blockade of the region.
The Russian Embassy stated that if such a scenario occurs, Moscow could use “its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons,” to defend its territory.
It should be noted that the Kaliningrad region is a Russian exclave separated from the country’s main territory and borders the Baltic Sea as well as NATO members Poland and Lithuania.
