Individuals in Russia have been prohibited from taking more than 1 million rubles (20,000 manats) in cash out of the country to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as well as to Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, RIA Novosti reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a corresponding decree.
According to the document, individuals are prohibited from taking more than 1 million rubles in cash from Russia to the countries mentioned above.
The restrictions apply to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs regardless of the amount.
The decree also provides for a number of exceptions.
Note that previously, the limit on taking cash rubles out of Russia for individuals was set at the equivalent of 100,000 US dollars. Those restrictions did not apply to Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Under the new decree, these countries have also been included within the scope of the restrictions.
