The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved technical assistance for the Baku Metro expansion project, the Bank told APA-Economics.
It was stated that the project is financed by the Technical Assistance Special Fund with an amount of 225,000 USD.
The main goal is to analyze the designs and documents prepared for the metro, promote institutional changes that strengthen the management structure, and support the enhancement of implementation opportunities for the project. ADB will also support acquiring knowledge on safety, procurement, and other project requirements.
It was noted that the project, as mentioned in ADB's Country Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan for 2025-2029, aligns with the priority of knowledge exchange for infrastructure improvement and human capital strengthening. In addition, the technical support is aligned with the main area of assistance for the Greater Baku Green Transport Strategy.
