The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a new regional technical assistance program to accelerate the energy transition in the Asia-Pacific region, APA-Economics reports.
In addition to Azerbaijan, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Thailand are also participating in the Program. The initiative aims to expand the application of smart grids, renewable energy integration, and clean energy technologies.
Within the framework of the project, ADB has allocated 4 million US dollars in funding. The Program will provide support for preliminary studies, technical assessments, and preparation of future projects for the modernization of energy systems in the countries. Within this framework, new opportunities for Azerbaijan in energy transition, smart infrastructure, and sustainable energy solutions will also be identified.
The activities are intended to assist the application of modern technologies both in the public sector and private initiatives. ADB states that the program will serve to accelerate low-carbon and climate-resilient development in the region. The project was approved on November 24, 2025, and is expected to be implemented in the near future.
