Baku hosts 7th meeting of ECO Group of well-known figures

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev â€“ APA-Economics. The 7th meeting of ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization) Group of well-known figures was held in Baku.

According to Ministry of Economic Development, representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, ECO Secretary-General Yahya Maroofi and employees of ECO Secretariat attended the meeting.

Maroofi met wit Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev. Current situation of collaboration with ECO, extension perspectives of relations were discussed at the meeting. Mustafayev noted that, Azerbaijan had already noticed its intention on membership to ECOBANK with 3%-equity and Azerbaijanâ€™s appeal on membership to bank was accepted.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov informed about Azerbaijanâ€™s economic successes. He also noted that, Azerbaijanâ€™s trade turnover with member states rose 37.8%.

Maroofi informed about organizationâ€™s activity during past years. Chairman of Group, Turkish representative Numan Khazar informed about activity of the group and results of beforehand meetings.

Work on preparation of report on â€œstrengthening of ECO effectiveness, dynamic and potentialâ€ was completed.

The report will be submitted to ECO Secretariat at the final meeting in September, Turkey.
