ADB President to visit Azerbaijan

Main purpose of Kuroda’s visit to Azerbaijan is to attend the 10th Ministerial Conference of Asian Development Bank on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) to be held on November 23-25, in Baku. At the same time, Kuroda is expected to meet with the country’s leadership.

Note that, last time, Haruhiko Kuroda visited Azerbaijan in 2008. That time, Baku hosted VII Ministerial Conference on CAREC.

Remind that, the economic ministers of CAREC-members will join the conference. The works conducted within the Program during past 10 years will be analyzed and the works in the future will be discussed at the event. At the same time, development strategy on CAREC until 2020 is expected to ratify at the conference.

The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program is an Asian Development Bank (ADB) supported initiative which was established in 1997 to encourage economic cooperation among countries in the Central Asian region. In particular, cooperation among the ADB member states of - Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, People’s Republic of China (focusing on Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan.
