On October 20, 2026, a group of Azerbaijani families of missing persons held a protest in Brussels, the capital of the Kingdom of Belgium, in front of the European Parliament at Place du Luxembourg. The event was organized by the "Karabakh Missing Persons' Families" Public Union, APA reports citiny State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations.
A protest statement was read during the demonstration. The statement reads: "In this city, which houses the institutions of the European Union, we represent the voices of families who have had no news of their loved ones for over 30 years—homes where no one has knocked for decades, mothers waiting for their children to return, and children who no longer remember the faces of their parents. During Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories, 4,010 Azerbaijanis went missing. Among them were 71 children, 288 women, and 319 elderly individuals. Behind every figure lies a human life and questions that remain unanswered. At a time when a peace agenda is being advanced, clarifying the fate of the missing is of particular importance. Lasting peace must be felt not only between states but also within the lives of individuals."
