The installation of offshore tubular piles has been completed as part of the Shah Deniz Compression project, marking the start of offshore construction work on the project, BP said, APA-Economics reports.

According to the information, over the past few weeks, four tubular piles that will form the foundation of the platform's jacket have been transported offshore and installed using the Khankendi subsea construction vessel.

Each pile is approximately 70 meters long, 108 inches in diameter, and weighs 292 tons, making them the largest-diameter tubular piles BP has ever installed in the Caspian Sea.

A specially designed 188-ton subsea support frame was used during installation to ensure the stability and vertical alignment of the piles.

As part of the campaign, pile plug technology was applied for the first time in BP's operations in the region.

"These operations mark a significant step in the implementation of the Shah Deniz Compression project and pave the way for the next major milestone – the installation of the platform jacket, scheduled for the first half of 2028," the statement noted.
