"Claims circulating in some media outlets and social media accounts about an 'attempt to lower the Turkish flag in Azerbaijan' are disinformation," stated in a post shared by the Center for Combating Disinformation under the Turkish Presidency, APA reports.
It was stated that the footage in question dates back to an earlier period:
"At the time the footage was recorded, Azerbaijani citizens were the first to react and responded most strongly to the provocation aimed at taking negative action against the Turkish flag. No incident involving the lowering of the Turkish flag occurred," the post noted.
The Center emphasized that presenting old footage as a new incident and spreading it out of context targets the friendly and brotherly relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The public was urged to remain vigilant and attentive to such manipulation.
