On October 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Frano Matušić, State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
During the meeting, the strategic partnership relations between the two countries and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation were discussed. The role of high-level mutual visits and the regular political consultations mechanism in the development of bilateral relations was emphasized.
Touching upon economic and trade relations, the importance of increasing trade turnover and mutual investments between the two countries was noted. The importance of diversifying bilateral cooperation in the fields of traditional and alternative energy, digital development, tourism, and agriculture was highlighted.
Noting Azerbaijan's strategic role, the importance of taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the Middle Corridor, as well as mutual support within international and regional platforms, was emphasized.
The exchange of experience and development of cooperation between ANAMA and Croatia's specialized companies in the field of demining were highly appreciated. The Croatian side stated that demining operations in their country had been completed in March of this year and that they would spare no effort in providing Azerbaijan with any support in this regard.
Croatian businesspeople were invited to take advantage of the favorable business environment in Azerbaijan, including the opportunities offered by the Alat Free Economic Zone and the Baku International Sea Trade Port, and to actively participate in projects implemented for the restoration of Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other regional security issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, the next round of political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Croatia. The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Croatian delegation was led by Frano Matušić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.
