Baku - APA-Economics. Great Britain is to revoke direct aid to 16 countries, including Kosovo, British network BBC reported on Sunday, EMportal reported.

In the budget revision draft for aid to foreign countries, which is to be presented next week, it is said that direct aid for Iraq, Russia and China will be revoked, while it will be frozen for India.

India is one of the major beneficiaries of the British aid for development. Around half a billion people in that country is on the verge of starvation or is starving.

Budget revision includes large expenses for programmes which, as BBC reports, give better results, particularly programmes of assistance for girls and women.

The means should be focus on 27 countries, which make three quarters of a total death rate in malaria patients and of women dying at child-birth, such as Ghana and Afghanistan.
