Baku-APA. The European Union is expecting a notification from the United Kingdom on leaving the bloc to begin negotiations on the withdrawal, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Tuesday, APA reports quoting Sputnik.

"I totally agree with [European Council] President [Donald] Tusk: we are waiting for the notification – no negotiation before notification. And those who want to have a free access to the internal market have to respect the four freedoms including the one of freedom of movement," Junker told the European Parliament.

The European Commission president slammed UK pro-Leave campaigners for absence of a comprehensive plan.

"I could understand that the Remain camp needs weeks to reflect, but I do not understand that the Brexit camp needs months before knowing what to do. I would have thought that they had a plan. Instead of developing a plan, they are leaving the boat," Juncker said, referring to those who campaigned for withdrawal and resigned following the vote.

On June 23, a nationwide referendum was held in the United Kingdom, in which 51.9 percent of voters supported the country leaving the bloc.

Eurosceptic UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage said on Monday he was resigning after achieving his goal.
