The US State Department has approved potential arms sales to Saudi Arabia worth about $5.75 billion, including tank engines, aerial bombs, precision-guided munitions and other systems, APA reports.
The decision was announced in a statement published by the US State Department on Friday.
According to the document, Saudi Arabia requested approval to purchase 5,000 BLU-111 bombs, 5,000 BLU-117 bombs, around 10,000 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits and other equipment from the United States.
Riyadh also requested 60 AGT-1500 tank engines worth an estimated $750 million. The State Department approved the potential sale.
The US administration has notified Congress of the decision. Lawmakers have 30 days to review the proposed deals and can approve or seek to block them.
