NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has commented on the absence of U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth from the NATO defense ministers’ meeting held in Brussels, APA reports.
Rutte said this was understandable, noting that the United States has many regions requiring its attention, and for this reason Pentagon officials are not always able to come to Brussels.
“I have very good relations with Hegseth, as well as with President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. I have no doubt that the United States is fully committed to NATO. The absence of U.S. officials from the meeting does not concern me, because they need to take care of their own hemisphere and the Indo-Pacific region; they have many responsibilities,” Rutte said.
