The Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery, located in the city of Orsk in Russia’s Orenburg region, has come under a UAV attack, UNN reports.
A fire broke out on the premises of the facility following the attack.
Orenburg Region Governor Yevgeny Solntsev said that airspace restrictions had been imposed in the region and the “Carpet” (“Kovyor”) plan had been activated. Temporary restrictions were also imposed on the arrival and departure of aircraft at Orsk Airport.
The head of the city, Artyom Vorobyov, also confirmed that a UAV attack had taken place in Orsk.
The fire is currently reported to be ongoing.
Orsknefteorgsintez is one of Russia’s major oil refineries and is part of the ForteInvest structure. The facility has an annual oil refining capacity of approximately 6–6.6 million tonnes. The refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, aviation kerosene and other petroleum products.
