British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss (pictured) announced on Thursday that the United Kingdom is imposing sanctions against seven Russian oligarchs, including current Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich, industrialist Oleg Deripaska, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, VTB Bank Chairman Andrey Kostin, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller, Transneft President Nikolay Tokarev, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Rossiya Dmitry Lebedev, APA reports citing BBC.
The UK Foreign Ministry stated the individuals, whose total net worth is around £15 billion, will have their assets frozen and they will not be able to travel to the UK or do business with UK companies.
"The UK has already sanctioned more than 200 of Russia’s most significant and high-value individuals, entities and subsidiaries since the invasion, with over 500 of them now covered by the UK’s sanctions list," the statement said.
