Ukraine's air defence system is facing increasing difficulty in intercepting Russia's latest aerial attacks, according to French newspaper Le Monde.
The newspaper reported that none of the ballistic missiles launched at Kyiv on 6 July were intercepted by Ukrainian air defences. It said a similar situation was observed during another Russian attack on 11 July.
A Ukrainian colonel quoted by the publication said the main reason was a shortage of Patriot missile interceptors and other air defence systems.
According to Le Monde, one of the growing challenges for Ukraine's air defences is the use of Russian jet-powered drones. The newspaper said these drones fly at high altitudes and at high speeds, making them extremely difficult to intercept.
