Bloomberg: Iran denies IAEA inspectors access to nuclear sites

Iran continues to deny inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) access to the country’s nuclear facilities.

According to APA, Bloomberg reported this citing an IAEA report obtained by the agency.

The report says inspectors have yet to gain access to the nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz and Fordow that were damaged in Israeli and US strikes.

The IAEA last recorded more than 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium and approximately 8,600 kilograms of uranium enriched to lower levels at the facilities.

The report states that the lack of information about the current status of these nuclear materials has raised proliferation concerns for IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

Grossi has called on Tehran to provide inspectors with access to the nuclear facilities as soon as possible.

At the same time, the report says IAEA inspectors are expected to gain access to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in mid-September.

According to Bloomberg, the IAEA Board of Governors is expected to discuss developments surrounding Iran’s nuclear program next week.
