Interior Ministry: Russian tourist abducted in Georgia found murdered in Nakra River

Russian tourist Viktor Solovyov, who came there for the New Year holidays with his wife Alina, was abducted and brutally murdered in Georgia. The body of a Tula businessman was found in the Nakra River, APA reports citing Ren TV.

On January 5, 2025, armed men attacked a married couple driving along the road connecting the Mestia ski resort with the city of Zugdidi. Bandits stole mobile phones from Russians. The man was taken away in an unknown direction, and the woman was released.

The measures to capture the criminals were carried out for two days, and a helicopter was involved in them. In hot pursuit, law enforcement officers managed to detain two alleged criminals — a 38-year-old and a 32-year-old local resident. They are charged with murder, attempted murder, gang robbery and illegal possession of weapons. All with aggravating circumstances. The alleged killers face up to 20 years in prison or life in prison.
