In Czech Republic a serious accident happened on Monday morning at the Libavá military training area, where an unspecified ammunition exploded, the army said, APA reports citing Novinky.
One soldier lost his life in the explosion, and eight others were injured. Rescue helicopters were on the scene. The incident is being handled by the Military Police.
"Seven professional soldiers and one civilian employee were injured on the spot. Unfortunately, one soldier died on the spot. They were all members of the Týniště nad Orlicí Ammunition Security Center," the Ministry of Defense said.
According to the defense, the incident occurred shortly after eleven o'clock in the morning. "There was an explosion of unspecified ammunition in the Libavá Training Area, specifically in the area of the Čermná blasting pit. The ammunition exploded during the planned training of pyrotechnicians," the defense added. The relatives of the injured and deceased soldier were informed about the unfortunate event.
