The UK government will invest more than £5 billion ($6.6 billion) over the next four years in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the country's armed forces, British Ministry of Defense reports.
Funding for the UK armed forces' UAV transformation will be included in the Defence Investment Plan, to be published by the government on June 30.
The investment will be directed towards the development of unmanned systems for the British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.
"The nature of warfare is changing rapidly. Unmanned systems are crucial to the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The UK's largest ever investment in these emerging technologies will help keep our armed forces ahead of our adversaries and support the best companies in our defence sector," said UK Defence Secretary Dan Carvis.
