Türkiye plans to start electrical energy generation in 2024 at Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) which is the country's first NPP, Head of Department for Nuclear Infrastructure Development at The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Salih Sari said, APA reports citing TASS.
"Nuclear fuel has been delivered to Akkuyu on April 27. We aim to start electrical energy generation starting from 2024," Salih Sari stressed.
According to the representative of the Ministry, Türkiye is negotiating with Russia and South Korea regarding the construction of the second npp in Sinop region of the Black Sea. Additionally, negotiations on the construction of the third NPP in the European part of Türkiye (Thrace region) are underway, and the construction of the fourth NPP is also planned.
Akkuyu NPP is the first-ever nuclear power plant which is being built in the Republic of Türkiye. The project is being implemented based on the Inter-Governmental Agreement concluded between the Government of the Russian Federation and Government of the Republic of Türkiye on May 12, 2010
