The Ishim–Astana main gas pipeline, being built to supply gas to Kazakhstan’s northern regions, is planned to be put into operation on January 1, 2030, said Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Moscow, Dauren Abayev, APA-Economics reports, citing Russia’s Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.

“From the perspective of supplying gas to our country’s northern regions, the signing of a memorandum with Gazprom on the implementation of the Ishim–Astana main gas pipeline project is of great importance. According to the initially determined timelines, the pipeline should begin operation on January 1, 2030,” the diplomat noted.

The ambassador also highlighted the deepening cooperation between the two countries on gas transit issues: “The volumes of gas transit from Russia to Uzbekistan via the territory of Kazakhstan are being increased in a planned manner. This project will contribute to strengthening regional stability and Central Asia’s energy security.”
