The National Iranian Gas Company has warned that gas supply problems may arise in 11 provinces of the country during the upcoming winter, Houshang Seydali, Director of the Gas Supply Coordination Department of the National Iranian Gas Company, told in a statement to ISNA, APA's Tehran bureau reports.

According to him, approximately 230 million cubic meters of daily gas production capacity was lost as a result of damage to four gas processing plants in the country during the March 18 attack. Of this volume, approximately 100 million cubic meters has been restored so far.

Houshang Seydali noted that the situation has increased the gap between gas supply and consumption in the country by another 130 million cubic meters compared to last year. According to preliminary forecasts, gas supply difficulties may arise in approximately 11 provinces during the winter.

He emphasized that the main priority of the National Gas Company is to prevent interruptions in gas supply to consumers. In the event of restrictions, efforts will be made to minimize the damage to the population through coordination and planning with other government agencies and, where possible, to provide alternative fuels.

The National Iranian Gas Company official also addressed gas supplies to industry. He noted that restrictions may be imposed on industrial enterprises to prevent problems with gas supply to the residential sector during peak consumption periods.

According to him, gas supply contracts with industrial enterprises have been arranged in such a way that they receive gas for eight months of the year and use alternative fuels for the remaining four months.

Emphasizing the importance of managing consumption and changing consumption patterns, Seydali stated that Iran's daily gas production last year was approximately 820–830 million cubic meters. However, due to the damage to the plants, approximately 130 million cubic meters of daily production capacity has become unavailable compared to the previous period.

He added that, despite this, daily gas production of more than 700 million cubic meters is a very significant figure, and many countries around the world would wish to have such a volume.
