Ukraine will not strike vessels carrying Russian-produced diesel fuel to the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told journalists, Ukrinform reports.
"As for the vessels traveling from Russia to America, no one will touch them because these vessels have ties to the United States," the Ukrainian President said.
Zelenskyy expressed concern that the agreement reached between the United States and Russia on diesel fuel supplies could pave the way for further concessions to Moscow in other areas in the future.
According to him, the agreement could set a precedent for easing sanctions on Russia's fertilizer and gas exports, its frozen assets, as well as certain individuals and entities.
"I think the diesel deal opens the door for the Russians to take similar steps in the future. We are talking about fertilizers, gas, frozen assets, and other individuals and entities against whom sanctions could be lifted," Zelenskyy stated.
The Ukrainian President also said that Russia is seeking to reach broader agreements with NATO and the United States on security issues. He called for no concessions to be made to Moscow on these matters until the war ends and Ukraine's security guarantees are determined.
