Azerbaijan generated 10,762.7 million kWh of electricity in January–May this year, marking a 2.6% increase compared to the same period last year, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the data, 10,390.2 million kWh of the total electricity produced during the reporting period accounted for commercial output, reflecting a 2.5% year-on-year rise.
Thermal power plants accounted for the largest share of electricity production — 8,693.4 million kWh — which is 1% lower than the January–April 2024 figure.
The remaining volume of electricity was produced by hydroelectric stations as well as other alternative and renewable energy sources.
