U.S. Ambassadorâ€™s statement on the Inauguration of President Ilham Aliyev

Baku – APA. U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar has issued a statement on the Inauguration of President Ilham Aliyev.

The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan told APA that the statement says: “The United States looks forward to working closely with President Aliyev and the Government of Azerbaijan as the President begins his new term in office. As with any partner, we have our differences, but we also have many shared critical interests.

We will continue to work with the Government and civil society to promote democratic values and principles in Azerbaijan. We also will work actively with the Government of Azerbaijan to help resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The U.S.-Azerbaijani bilateral agenda is broad and ambitious; it includes cooperation on regional security, counter-terrorism, energy security, and economic diversification. Over the next five years we hope to expand and deepen our relationship with the people and Government of Azerbaijan.”
