PACE President sends congratulatory letter to Ilham Aliyev on re-election as President of Azerbaijan Republic

The letter reads :

“Dear Mr. President! I am pleased to congratulate you on re-election as President of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Your victory in the first round, as the majority of the electorate cast their votes for you, is a clear indication of people's trust in you.

I am sure your wise political experience will be successful for the new phase of reforms in your country.

Azerbaijan, for the first time in its history, will chair the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in 2014. It will be a good opportunity to realize all the reforms in the country in future, and to strengthen respect for the standards and values â€‹â€‹of our organization throughout the European continent.

I am sure that your re-election as President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will contribute to the strengthening of our organization and values â€‹â€‹. The Council of Europe and its Parliamentary Assembly fully supports Azerbaijan in the implementation of the commitments and duties. I am confident that in the near future we will witness better results. We look forward to your visit to Strasburg on occasion to appeal to the presidency of Azerbaijan to Committee of Ministers during one of the sessions in 2014. I wish you huge successes at this high post. "
