MP Zahid Oruj said that though millions of Azerbaijanis live in Russia, there are still contradictions and problems in the activities of the organizations.

Oruj mentioned that there was misunderstanding between the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations upon the establishment of Billionaires' Union in Russia in 2013 and its termination.

“We have always wanted the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in Russia to be strong. Unfortunately, after the establishment of Billionaires' Union, the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in Russia began to crumble. The existence of strong diaspora organizations there will allow the problems to be delivered to higher authorities. The stronger the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations are in Russia, the more useful it will be for the whole country”, he noted.

Fazil Mustafa also expressed concern over what is happening within the local diaspora organizations in Russia.

Mustafa also appealed to the head of state for imprisoned deputy chairman of the Musavat Party Tofig Yagublu’s being pardoned. He mentioned that the release of Yagublu from jail for seven days to attend his daughter’s funeral was humane treatment.

“I appeal to the president to pardon him. Indeed, he had a family tragedy. He was sentenced to four years and four months in prison. Such a pardon will allow the elimination of hate between political forces in society, and establishment of friendly relations”, Mustafa said.

F. Mustafa's appeal was supported by MP Iqbal Aghazade.
