Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and deputy executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), said in his speech the real act of genocide was in fact committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis. He expressed regret that western circles uses the topic of genocide as a tool for pressure against Turkey. “Instead of going back to 100 years ago, it would be better to take a look at the genocide carried out in Karabakh's Khojaly town . Because this is something we, the present generation, have witnessed," he said.
İsmail Alper Coskun, the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, noted that "every year we smear campaigns against the whole Turkish history".
“Today, the events of 1915 can be understood as anathema against Turkey. However, in fact, today Turkey proves to the world that such claims are nothing but lies. If we want to investigate and understand the events of 1915, we should go back to the very begining. We need to have some background of the plans of the way the Ottoman Empire was divided. When we have a look at the European Parliament's decision on the “genocide”, we see Armenians being manipulated as a tool to convert history to policy," said the Ambassador.
Siyavush Novruzov, Deputy executive secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), said the Armenian lies should be brought up before the international organizations: “Historical facts show that no genocide was committed against the Armenians. The real situation is that the European circles are now trying to recognize so-called "Armenian genocide". At the same time, a number of European countries fear from the growing influence of Turkey in the region and use the Armenian issue. So, I think we should strengthen our work in the international arena.”
