Protest held in Nardaran - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. A protest has been held in Baku’s Nardaran settlement against the arrest of Haji Taleh Baghirov and other theologians.

APA reports that the protest has been held in Imam Hussein square of the settlement. Villagers and residents of neighboring settlements participated in the protest.

Addressing the protest, Haji Ali Huseynov, Sheikh Rajayi, Seyyed Mirgasim, Ibrahim Huseynov, Karbalayi Natig Karimov and others condemned the arrests of Haji Taleh Baghirov and other theologians, demanded their release and criticized law-enforcement bodies and the Caucasus Muslim Board.

Along with speeches against the US and Israel, several slogans such as “Immortal Hussein school!”, “Freedom to believers”, “Freedom to hijab” were chanted in the protest.

It was said that such protest will continue unless the arrested theologians are released.

The statement issued by Azerbaijani Interior Ministry on the arrest of theologian Taleh Baghirov and his driver says that as a result of search operations conducted by the employees of Sabunchu District Police Department, one "Makarov" pistol, 4 cartridges and a knife were seized from Baku resident Anar Malikov and 1,026 gram heroin from Taleh Baghirov near the "ABU Petrol" filling station in the settlement.
