APA reports that MP Chingiz Ganizadeh gave information about the amendments. He said that according to the amendments to the law on “Grants”, with the exception of the donations and government agencies’ aids envisaged in the laws on “Freedom of religion” and “Nongovernmental organizations (public unions and funds)”, the religious organizations, nongovernmental organizations, including branches and representations of foreign nongovernmental organizations can not receive financial aid without the grant contract (decision).
Ganizadeh said that the amendments will prevent money laundering. According to him, the draft laws will for the first time explain the notion of donation: “Counterarguments have also been heard. Their arguments will also be taken into consideration after the adoption of these laws. These draft laws have been developed basing on the experience of the UK, Russia and the US. These countries have already made such demands and certain state agencies are controlling the money coming to the state.”
MPs Gudrat Hasanguliyev and Fazil Mustafa expressed their objections on the amendments.
First vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov said that the main purpose of the amendments is to use money coming to the country for its intended purpose: “It is inappropriate to look for a different point”.
All four documents have been adopted following the discussions.
