Amendments and annexes to â€œLaw on registration according to the place of residence and sojournâ€ adopted

Giving information about draft law, chairman of the parliament’s committee on legal policy and state-building Ali Huseynli said the new document will make amendments to the term of sojourn of foreign nationals or stateless persons in Azerbaijan and procedure of their registration.

Ali Huseynli said the new law specifies the procedure of registration of foreign nationals or stateless persons in Azerbaijan according to sojourn.

The draft law envisages registration of foreign nationals or stateless persons in Azerbaijan according to sojourn. The administration of the place, where the foreign national or stateless person lives, (hotel, sanatorium, rest house, camping, hospital or other public places), or the owner of the house is to send the copy of that person’s passport and an application form to the relevant local executive authority within three days.

After the application is received, relevant executive authority immediately registers a foreigner or stateless person according to the place of sojourn and gives information within 48 hours. The foreigners and stateless persons are registered for the following terms:

1) people, who have come with visitor visas – validity of visa

2) visa-free visitors – within 90 days

The state tax is not paid for registration of foreigners and stateless persons according to the place of sojourn. Foreigners of stateless persons inform the relevant executive authority, when leave the sojourn, and they are removed from registration according to this information. If the registration period expires, foreigner or stateless persons are considered unregistered. If a foreigner or stateless person leaves his or her place, he or she must be registered according to sojourn reflected in this paragraph.

Along with the amendments and annexes to the law “On registration according to the place of residence and sojourn”, the annexes and amendments are expected to be made to the regulations on application of this law.
