Members of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party arrested in Sabirabad

Baku. Elnur Mammadli â€“ APA. Members of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party collecting signatures for the Initiative Group for Karabakh and Republic were arrested in Sabirabad region, deputy chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Hasan Karimov told APA. He said that the party activists Movsum Asgarov and Rashad Sadigov had been detained by the region police. Karimov said the police linked the arrest of the party activists to drugs. Deputy chairman said it was groundless.

Sabirabad region police office confirmed to APA that the members of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party had been arrested. The police said 7.49g hashish had been found on Sadigov.

Criminal case has been launched on him on article 234 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to two month-imprisonment.

The police office said Asgarov had also been detained. The police did not say what he was charged with, as they gathered materials about him.
