MPs voice strong messages to foreign embassies in Azerbaijan

Lawmaker Jala Aliyeva said the embassies were frequently breaching the protocol rules. â€œSeveral days ago I attended the US Embassyâ€™s reception. The Embassyâ€™s cars were allowed to enter to area of the event, but the car of Milli Majlis member was not allowed. The Embassy of such country like America, which considers itself as a cradle of democracy, doesnâ€™t observe the protocol rulesâ€. MP Ganira Pashayeva urged to find out the French Embassyâ€™s refusal to give visa to the Azerbaijani team of the beach football. She proposed to invite the ambassador to the Parliament. Speaker Ogtay Asadov estimated the prevention of MP cars to the areas of embassiesâ€™ events as an unacceptable condition. â€œPrivately I think that this incident is an insult. It is better to complain to the embassies than to raise the issue hereâ€. Touching upon the issue raised by Ganira Pashayeva, the speaker said the visa regime between Azerbaijan and other countries would be simplified soon. â€œWe have already talked about this issue with the Foreign Ministry and serious work is being done in this directionâ€.
