Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. There are different proposals for participation of the opposition in the parliamentary elections in yearend. Musavat party’s official Arif Hajili told APA that they will try to establish coalition with certain political forces, as well as non-party influential intellectuals, public figures of Azerbaijan. “We aim to create unity of Musavat and Popular Front Party and to organize their joint participation in the pre-election campaign. Of course, we welcome other political parties – sincere opposition organizations, real democratic forces to join this coalition”.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic Party Sardar Jalaloglu ruled out possibility of the united election bloc of the opposition parties because various intrigues between them. He proposed to opposition to establish functional cooperation. “Let them to nominate united candidates from the electoral districts at least to lift the alternativeness. I would like to meet party leaders and to discuss this issue again. But some forces are trying to lengthen time under different pretexts”, said Jalaloglu.

Leader of the National Unity Movement Lala Shovkat considers it necessary to establish a unique coalition of the opposition. Lala Shovkat says the opposition can have a success in the elections by putting an end to the discrimination among the opposition parties and considers that these forces should unite in one front.
“If all the opposition forces unite in one front, some positive results may be produced. I would like the opposition to realize that the situation is serious and participate in the elections as a unique force. If the opposition participates in the elections within several blocs again, then there is no hope for success. Then we will hardly achieve changes in the parliamentary elections,” she said.

Representative of the Union for Democracy Panah Huseyn says that the opposition should hold discussions and find a way out of the situation. Panah Huseyn says taking into account the interviews of parties, it does not seem real under the present circumstances that the opposition will participate in the elections within a unique bloc.
“Principally any model, any form of cooperation, participation in the elections with a unique list, establishment of the unique election bloc may be discussed. Common cooperation is discussed more,” he said.

Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Hasan Karimov told APA that joint participation of the Azadlig bloc and Musavat was offered. According to him, parliamentary elections hold one of the main places in the party’s action plan for 2010 and it is important that the abovementioned political forces participate with a unique candidate.
“The parties have not held discussions on this proposal. But both sides should make efforts for its realization,” he said.

Chairman of Umid Party Iqbal Agazadeh said the perspectives of cooperation with political parties at the parliamentary elections were under discussion for the time being: “During these discussions we pay attention to the society and other parties, especially interests of our own party.

We have started preparations in both variants – within the framework of cooperation with political parties and participation as a party. In the process we will dwell on acceptable variant and make propaganda in this direction. I consider that, we have enough resources and opportunities for this”. Agazadeh noted that there had been carried on negotiations with some parties, but he didn’t want to comment on this.

One of other opposition parties - Adalet (Justice) Party showed initiative to make an electoral bloc with Whole Azerbaijan Popular Front Party. Aydınlar (Intellectuals) Party intents to participate at elections independently. Although the Azerbaijan National Independence Party has decided to participate at elections, the format has not been determined yet. But Great salvation Party intends to nominate a candidate from all constituencies and to participate as a party at the elections. Party leader Fazil Mustafa told APA that he was interested in cooperation with other parties but there had not been carried on any negotiations yet.
