But this is normal legal process regulate by law in all secular countries”, chief of the public policy department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov told APA while taking stance on the reports about ban on azan.

“The norms of vibration and noise pollution negatively impacted on the environment” was approved by the decree signed by the President of Azerbaijan on July 8, 2008. The norms were elaborated on the basis of the laws about the environmental, sanitary and epidemiological security, said the department chief and added that these norms set requirements for the level of allowed noises and vibrations in the residential and public buildings, residential areas, as well as other places crowded by the people.

Hasanov said these laws and presidential decree were regulating the special noisy events. “These events include the azan sounded by loud-speakers in the mosques. Using of loud speakers in azan should meet existent requirements. It should determine the norms of its sounding depending on distances around. Parties in the wedding houses, as well as salutation should be regulated within these norms as well. Normalizing of the loud-sounded azan in the mosques also is carried out within these requirements”.
