Baku State Universityâ€™s 90 years celebrated

Baku â€“ APA. A solemn ceremony was held on the occasion of 90 years anniversary of the Baku State University. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony, APA reports.

In his address to the ceremony, President Aliyev talked about the role of the university in the countryâ€™s life and emphasized its historic contributions. The rector of the university, MP Abel Maharramov said 90 years anniversary of the education center was celebrated at the government level. He talked about the founding history of the university, the glorious historic way it passed and its present state.

Maharramov said the BSU Academic Council decided to give a title of honorable doctor of the university to President Ilham Aliyev. The honorable doctorâ€™s gown was presented to the president.

Rectors of the Moscow State University, Turkeyâ€™s Ataturk University, Tbilisi State University, Tehran University and Kazakhstanâ€™s Lev Gumilev Eurasian National University delivered their congratulations in the event.

More than 40 scientists and heads of the high educations centers from Russia, Turkey, Germany, Georgia and other countries attended the ceremony.
