OSCE Office in Baku to organize roundtable on Azerbaijanâ€™s Electoral Code and law on political parties

The OSCE Office in Baku will organize a roundtable on the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan and law on political parties on the eve of municipal elections, said Ambassador Bilge Cankorel, APA reports. He said the experts and representatives of the political parties would attend the roundtable. The Office will also organize series events on the municipalityâ€™s role in the society. The ambassador said the OSCE would prepare TV programs and debates on the municipal elections.

Cankorel evaluated the pre-election situation in the country and said the democracy is an ideal and election is one of its parts. â€œNo country in the world reached this ideal. But we expect progress every day and our efforts are directed toward this. We expect to move forward in these electionsâ€.

The ambassador said the existing Electoral Code created opportunity for the democratic elections. â€œBut there are some problems, which can be solvedâ€.
