International Diaspora Center holds cultural event on Heydar Aliyevâ€™s 86th anniversary -<font color=red>PHOTOSESSION </font>

Baku - APA. The International Diaspora Center (IDC) held a cultural event on Heydar Aliyevâ€™s 86th anniversary in Altiaghaj of Khizi District.

As APA reports, the event was joined by representatives of the Center, heads of European and Russian representative offices and members of the public.

Ismayil Agayev, Chairman of the International Diaspora Center, spoke about Heydar Aliyev;s indispensable role in Azerbaijanâ€™s achieving independence and becoming a strong state.

He noted that Heydar Aliyev prioritized in the state policy the strengthening of Azerbaijani diaspora.

â€œOur compatriots throughout the world have chosen Heydar Aliyevâ€™s saying â€œI have always been proud and I am proud that I am an Azerbaijaniâ€ as their motto the words. They spare no efforts in strengthening of the diaspora,â€ he added.

Professor Vagif Arzumanly talked about Heydar Aliyevâ€™s merits in the Azeri statehood.

IDC representative for Europe Azer Kerimov and IDC representative for Khabarovsk, Ussuriysk and Vladivostok regions of Russia Alemdar Nabiev spoke their memories about Heydar Aliyev.

Later, the event was followed by a horse race.

Winner Mardan Eyvazov was awarded by the International Diaspora Center.

Other participants also received various races gifts.

Ismayil Agayev told APA that the Center regularly holds various activities in Azerbaijan and outside the country.

â€œIDC representatives put Azeri flag at Chanaggala monument to Turkish martyrs. As it is known, Azeries also participated in the defense of Chanaggala. Azerbaijan provided material assistance to Turkey at that time. Therefore, we suggested erecting a monument in honor of the Azerbaijani martyrs in Chanaggala. The Turkish government has already given an affirmative reaction. In addition, on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Khojaly genocide, we held a mass action at Taksim Square in Istanbul with the participation of 10 000 people. In protest against the so-called â€œArmenian genocideâ€, we, together with local clubs, organized a great event in Igdyra at Alijan border crossing point. We plan to continue such activities,â€ he added.
