â€œKarabakh genocide: doomed Khojalyâ€ book presented

On Wednesday, the State Commission for Captives, Hostages and Missing People organized presentation of the book â€œKarabakh genocide: doomed Khojalyâ€ by journalist Tatyana Chaladze. According to APA, Commission Secretary Shahin Sailov addressed the ceremony and said the book was prepared on the basis of materials collected by the joint investigative group of the Ministry of National Security, Interior Ministry and Republican Prosecutorâ€™s Office, as well as by the State Commission. Minister of National Security Eldar Mahmoudov and Defense Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan Vahid Aliyev supported the book, which was published in Russian first and then will be translated to Latvian, English and other languages. â€œThe law doesnâ€™t allow publication of the investigative materials before the end of the investigation. The book contains both investigative materials and secret documents published for the first time. Earlier there was no such publication in Azerbaijanâ€.

Professor of Baku State University Musa Gasimov said the book would be irreplaceable source for the researchers some years later. The scientist proposed to send the copies of the book to US President Barack Obama and presidents of other countries too. Department Chief of the Human Right Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Araz Gurbanov said the archive materials saved by the law-enforcement bodies of the country must be published. â€œThere are enough legal opportunities to deliver these materials to the international community. Dossiers of Khojaly genocide, tragedies of Garadaghli, January 20, Sumgayit have also to be published in Englishâ€.
