Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. The Social Policy Committee of Milli Mejlis discussed on Tuesday the draft law on declaring May 1 non-working day and workers’ holiday in Azerbaijan. Committee Chairman Hadi Rajabli told APA the draft law submitted by Panah Huseyn was not accepted. “The implementation of this issue is not real now. It can be addressed several years later”.

Rajabli said there were 13 holidays and a day of national mourning in Azerbaijan now and the people were not working totally for 17 days a year. “Currently daily salary fund is 15 million AZN in Azerbaijan and 8 million is paid to the workers of private sector and 7 million – to the workers of budgets organizations. How it can be correct to pay to the people 10 million AZN for non-working days? There is a question of protection of the interests of private sector. On the other hand, there are two holidays and non-working days in May”.

May 1, the Day of Workers’ Solidarity was declared in Turkey as a holiday and non-working day this year.
