“I returned to my duties at the University of Montana refreshed and rejuvenated after seeing all manner of old friends and making new ones, particularly among the dynamic Azerbaijani youth attending the conference and/or presenting at it. It was a real joy to observe the breadth of enquiry, and commitment of the Azerbaijani youth to broadcast news about their homeland. Particularly interesting for me were the presentations of Ulviyya Nasibova and Adil Baghirov on the Albans and Nakhchivani monuments, respectively. I have already acquired those presentations to share with my class on the Post-Soviet Caucasus. The organizers did an incredible job, and I am proud to be associated with ASA, the AAC and indeed, with Azerbaijan,” he said.
Betty Blair, Editor, Azerbaijan International, presentation’s title “Researching the authorship question of Ali and Nino” told the APA’s US bureau she is pleased with attending this forum.
“It was exciting to be at the Academic Forum at Berkeley. It’s wonderful to watch Azerbaijani youth—bright, articulate, capable—making contributions to their country via serious research. As they say, a nation that doesn’t know its past—whether in history, literature, the arts or sciences—cannot build its future. But youth can prepare themselves, can work hard, can dig deeply and with persistence and patience and passion, they can make a difference. I hope this experiment of an Academic Forum will be tried in other parts of the world as well. Why not? I commend the Azerbaijani government in their support of this academic event and in the sponsorship of much-needed deep research in numerous fields—especially social sciences. I hope this Forum sets precedence for great things to come,” she said.
Geoffrey F. Gresh, the Fletcher School, Tufts University, presentation’s title “The Azeri Transborder Population in an Age of Globalization” expressed his pleasure with the meeting.
“It was a pleasure to speak at the forum. I enjoyed meeting Azerbaijanis from across the United States and around the globe. The forum was wonderfully organized and brought together scholars and experts in many different fields. I believe the second annual scholarly forum generated fruitful discussion and dialogue about many different issues currently facing Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus,” he said. /APA/
