"The COP29 held in Baku is also referred to as the finance cop," Head of Communications at United Nations Global Compact Wynne Boelt told APA.
He noted that many discussions and negotiations to be held here will primarily focus on how to fund the various actions and areas of work needed to combat climate change over the long term: "We hope that in the early days of COP29 there will be commitments and plans to provide more money and funding for action on climate change. So, I work with the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative and my job consists of bringing together the private sector and businesses to participate in COP29 and collaborate with governments to tackle all issues. Climate change problems cannot be addressed without engaging companies into work. We are here and working to ensure that business has a voice at COP29."
